Meet our new Director of Training Programs, Amanda Becker-Torres.
Amanda brings over ten years of experience supporting people with autism and other developmental disabilities, particularly related to developing their vocational skills and interests. Most recently Amanda worked at Job Path NYC where she managed the Transition Services Program, providing education and real-world opportunity for young adults with developmental disabilities who are interested in pursuing paid employment. Job Path is a leader in the use of the customized employment method to create internships and jobs that meet the needs of employers and leverage the skills of the employees.
With that expertise, Amanda is looking forward to implementing the practice into the programs at Yes She Can.
Lesli Cattan, our retiring Director, has been facilitating the transition. Amanda won’t have any difficulty with the Girl AGain offerings, as she had American Girl dolls in her youth.
Having recently moved to the Hudson Valley, Amanda enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband and dog in her free time.
Amanda holds a Master’s in Social Work from the Silberman School at Hunter College where she had a concentration in community organizing, planning, and development with a focus on policy.
Please welcome Amanda.
