At the October NYS Council on Developmental Disabilities (CDD) meeting, Yes She Can’s Executive Director, Robin Davies-Small, participated on a CDD Employment-Related Grants Panel with Erica Chase and Christina Loggia, SUNY Farmingdale SBDC – Entrepreneurship for People with Developmental Disabilities, and Jackie Fan Family Employment Awareness Training. Presenters discussed their programs, lessons learned, challenges and outcomes, and plans for sustainability.Robin highlighted Yes She Can’s Mentorship Program, which was developed to support neurodivergent individuals in their next steps toward independence.
With 12 active mentor/mentee pairs, matches are based on shared interests and goals. Mentees have achieved numerous milestones: completing a semester of college, maintaining employment, securing summer jobs, and participating in informational interviews. Monthly group sessions for mentees provide networking opportunities, foster friendships, and build confidence.
