Volunteer

Yes She Can believes that volunteering is a mutual exchange between the volunteer and our organization.

We offer various opportunities to contribute to our work and have a meaningful experience.

Program volunteers help trainees learn and perform their responsibilities while teaching problem-solving, workplace social skills, and emotional regulation. Volunteers are asked to commit to three hours or more per week on a consistent schedule on-site at our boutique.

  • Understand and support trainees’ social, emotional, and cognitive issues and help them achieve their individual goals.
  • Learn the store operations and tasks to be able to teach and support trainees.
  • Oversee trainees in performing job tasks, assess their work, and provide feedback.

Serve as a Store Volunteer

This opportunity allows individuals with strong social skills to help with our store operations. Store volunteers can help for two-hour blocks or more at a consistent time and day.

Participants who need community service hours can also benefit from this experience.

Volunteers will:

  • Help prepare used American Girl merchandise for the trainees to complete
  • Learn the tasks and processes that our trainees use (we’ll teach you what you need to know)
  • Interact with trainees as you would with typical peers

Serve as a mentor.

Yes She Can’s employment mentorship program for individuals with developmental disabilities is designed to enhance future job prospects.

Mentors help participants grow in their professional and personal lives by helping them practice workplace skills and enhance their interpersonal skills.

We welcome volunteers in the following areas:

  • Development and fundraising
  • Events
  • Strategy
  • PR
  • Marketing
  • Retail
  • Corporate partnerships
