Temple Grandin is a distinguished Colorado professor of animal science. Over the years, she worked to prove doubters wrong and change her field.
She is one of the 61 to be awarded USA Today’s Woman of the Year 2025 for her contributions to improving our community. She is a great role model for me.
I wrote a report on her in third grade and saw her speak at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in January, so I was excited when I was asked to write this blog.
When I saw her, Dr. Temple Grandin spoke about a Native American artist, Mary Sully, at the Met. My mom told me that Native American artists haven’t gotten much attention in the past. Dr. Grandin spoke because she knows a lot about being a visual thinker; both Sully and Grandin are visual thinkers.
While she spoke, Temple said people are obsessed with iPads, phones, and games. She doesn’t think that’s a good thing because they are addicted. She also said we need more engineers and visual thinkers in all fields.
We should listen to Dr. Grandin because when she was a child, her mom was told she would never amount to much and should be institutionalized. Instead, her mom took her home and gave her an excellent education. She then changed the way we treat cows, treating them more humanely.
I admire Temple Grandin’s hard work. She has shown me that even if you have Autism, you can still do anything you put your mind to.
Everyone at Yes She Can knows about Temple Grandin’s relevant achievements, and we admire her greatly. She is an example of perseverance and determination for all of us.
