Regeneron Employees Practice Networking Skills with Yes She Can Trainees

October 29, 2020 by Marjorie Madfis Leave a Comment

Yes She Can was fortunate to be selected to participate in Regeneron’s Days For Doing Good, a corporate initiative with Volunteer NY to enable employees to contribute to the community.  Twenty Five Regeneron employees joined 13 Yes She Can trainees and 15 coaches to work on networking skills for employment search. Trainees came to the  two Zoom meetings prepared to conduct one-on-one informational interviews with Regeneron employees.

Yes She Can trainee Alex reflects on her experience:

On Tuesday October 27th, I had a wonderful virtual meeting with Dr. Mei Lan Chen, an associate scientist at Regeneron who is working on researching and testing new medicines. I was very nervous before I spoke to Mei Lan, but she immediately made me feel very comfortable which made me feel more confident.

We discussed how important it is to network with people because you never know what meeting people might lead to. Mei Lan helped me understand how important it is to not be afraid of trying new things even if you might fail at something. Mei Lan is going to share my resume with her colleagues and her sister. All of that from just one meeting with someone I had never met before.

Regeneron volunteer Mei Lan reflects on her experience:

I had a wonderful experience today talking with Alex and it was a great learning opportunity. Alex prepared a list of thought-provoking questions and stimulated productive discussions on career advice and resources that would help her succeed and take chances because you never know what your capabilities are until you try. Alex is a bright and inquisitive young woman and I hope to maintain a professional relationship.
