Women’s history month is important because women can work and be productive. It is usually observed in March.
A woman in history I admire is Rosa Parks. She was an American civil rights activist. She fought for black freedom. She refused to move from the front of the bus, where only white people were allowed to sit. The back of the bus was for colored people. She was the mother of the freedom movement and I feel a lot of respect for all she did for ethnic equality.
A woman today who I admire is my mom. The reason why I admire my mom is that she talks to me and I talk to her. She teaches me how to cook food and she cooks food for me and my dad. She used to work as a medical technologist and as a nurse. She also teaches me how to dance. She is also a woman of color.
My favorite American Girl character is Kaya. I like her because she is a Native American Indian. I identify with her because my mom and I are Indian. We are women of color. I like Kaya because she is a woman of color.
I love the different adventures Kaya talks about in her books. If you are interested in learning more about Kaya and her story, you can visit our store at 10 Church St. in White Plains, or call us at 914.358.1460
